Eight newly promoted Brigadier Generals Decorated In Maiduguri

The Theatre Commander North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa supported by Sector Commanders on Tuesday decorated eight Colonels in the Theatre with their new rank of Brigadier General.

Speaking at the ceremony in Maiduguri, Musa said the Theatre which also have four Brigadier Generals promoted to Major Generals showed how the Theatre has continue to benefit immensely from the goodwill of the President and Commander in Chief, Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs.

Musa tasked the newly promoted to further seat up pointing out that in the military the higher one goes the more the responsibilities.

“As you are promoted and decorated the work for next round started immediately, there is no respite. So much is expected from you,” Musa said.

He lauded the unity and team work the newly promoted and others exhibited in facilitating successes recorded in the theatre and urged them to continue to put thier best for more successes.

Also speaking, the Deputy Theatre Commander, Maj.Gen. M.S Ahmed and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Maiduguri, Maj. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu tasked the newly promoted to upheld the tenet of the profession and conduct themselves as leaders worthy of emulation by those they command.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted, Brig. Gen. A.J Ahmad expressed gratitude to God and the military for finding them worthy of promotion among many.

“Our gratitude to Commander in Chief, Army Council, Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff who agreed and approved the promotion

“We are going to be much more committed and ready to give our best,” Ahmad said.

Among those decorated as from Colonel to Brigadier General is A.M Azuikpe, the Theatre Command Intelligence Coordinator whose mother, Col. Comfort Azuikpe (retired) assisted in his decoration.
