- The Adamawa State Government has lifted the earlier suspension on the activities of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the State which was imposed during the recent election period.
A statement by Humwashi Wonosikou, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s press secretary thanked the NGOs for their support and cooperation as the ban lasted.
“While lifting the suspension, Governor Fintiri appreciates their cooperation which has in no small way contributed to the successful conduct of the elections.
“The Governor urged them to go about their humanitarian activities according to the rules of engagement in order to deliver on their mandate,” the statement said.
It may be recalled that on the eve of the general election in Adamawa state, the governor has placed a blanket ban on the activities of NGOs over their alleged partisanship.
The action has elicited mixed reactions proponents and opponents of the ban ventilated varied concerns over the blanket ban.
