This letter from Kanu’s brother, Kanunta, urges Ekpa to cease calling for sit-at-home protests in the Southeast, emphasizing that the sit-at-home action has been terminated.

In a recent tweet, Kanunta reiterated that the sit-at-home protest was no longer in effect and implored Ekpa to refrain from using Nnamdi Kanu’s name to advocate for such actions.

Instead, Ekpa was encouraged to call for sit-at-home demonstrations under his own identity.
Kanunta stated, “Calling for sit-at-home when you want is your choice, but do NOT use #MaziNnamdiKanu name to do so.
“Sit-at-home in #Biafraland is hereby cancelled by #MNK. If sit-at-home is your new franchise, please do that with your name. #We Move Forward.”
One of the toughest challenges I faced in life is leading Nigeria; Buhari
The directive from Nnamdi Kanu comes amidst ongoing efforts to address the situation in the Southeast, and it carries the weight of his authority within the IPOB movement.
The call for sit-at-home protests has been a contentious issue in the region, affecting businesses and daily life for residents.
Kanu’s message aims to clarify the current stance of the IPOB leadership on this matter.
On Friday, the handwritten letter was sent to Simon Ekpa from the Department of State Services (DSS) facility, where Nnamdi Kanu is currently being held.
The letter was conveyed through Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor. This communication signifies the seriousness with which Kanu addresses the issue and underscores the need for Ekpa to respect the decision to discontinue sit-at-home protests in the Southeast.
The move to halt sit-at-home protests may indicate a shift in the IPOB’s approach to its cause or a strategic reevaluation of its methods.
It is clear that the leadership wants to avoid any further disruptions to the lives of the people in the region while continuing to assert their demands and aspirations.
