As discussions around the appointment of Professor Mamman Tahir, as minister of education continue to take the center stage, the organizing secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu has disclosed that the Professor of law who was a founding member of the party which he joined in 2013, almost single handedly drafted the 2022 party’s constitution as amended.

The appointment of Tahir as minister of education was greeted with jubilation across Nigeria as people said the president has put a square peg in a square hole.

But shedding light on the contributions of the professor to the development of the party in an interview with our reporter, Ribadu who poured encomiums on the new minister of education said he was one of the live wires who contributed immensely to the party’s greatness since its birth.

“Professor Mamman Tahir is a loyal founding member of our great party who worked extra hard to ensure the development and progress of the party over the years. He is indeed one of the live wires of our great party.

“One of his greatest contributions to the party was that he almost single handedly drafted the party’s 2022 constitution as amended which is the backbone of the party,” he said.

He noted that in his resolve to bring his robust contributions to the progress of Adamawa State, Mamman Tahir was the first person to pick the guvernorship nomination form of the party in 2015 adding that despite not making it, he nevertheless has remained a resolute and loyal party man.

Ribadu who expressed confidence in the ability of the professor of law to turn around the fortunes of education in Nigeria, noted that Tahir is threading a familiar terrain adding that he will bring his immense wealth of experience to bear in discharging the job.

“Before he became the Director General of Nigeria Law School in 2005, he served as the deputy director of Kano campus.

“His outstanding leadership display led to transformative growth and infrastructural development in the Kano campus of the Nigerian Law School within his eight-year tenure.

“Professor Mamman stands as an epitome of excellence, leadership, and unwavering dedication. His journey is an inspiration to aspiring other professionals and a testament to the transformative power of education, integrity, and a commitment to positive change,” Ribadu added.

The APC organizing secretary added that the eight year stint of professor Mamman Tahir as the DG of law school has become a reference point in excellence and leadership prowess.

“As the DG of Nigeria Law School, he championed various reforms and innovations that completely changed the landscape of the institution and the law profession interminably.

“He was the brain behind the coming of many campuses across Nigeria including the one in Adamawa State which he championed despite the fact that no university offers law course as at that time. But today we are happy our students can become professional lawyers without going to far flung places.

“In order to show you how he has been keenly assisting people, his protege whom he brought to serve as the deputy D.G to administer the Yola campus is currently the D.G Nigeria Law School” he said.

Ribadu also noted that because of his untiring efforts towards the development of the party, professor Mamman Tahir was appointed as the north east vice chairman of the party during the Mai-Mala Buni reign as Chairman Caretaker Extraordinary Committee of the party.

He noted that Nigeria’s education ecosystem will be positively affected by the professors midas touch adding that he will address the teething challenges that have engulfed the sector for years considering his vast experience as an educationist and administrator par excellence.

“If you put into consideration the positions held by Mamman Tahir you will be convinced that he is the man for the job. It based on those accomplishments that the federal government gave him national honour of OON.

“In the same vein, In September 2015, he was conferred with the esteemed title of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as a recognition for his exceptional contributions within the legal realm.” he said.
