Adamawa Think Tank hails Tinubu for appointing Mamman Tahir as education minister
~ Expresses optimism in Tahir’s ability to make Nigeria a global education hub
An Adamawa based intelligentsia group under the auspices of Adamawa Think Tank (ATT) has hailed the appointment of professor Mamman Tahir as Nigeria’s education minister.
Rising from a crucial stakeholders meeting, the group expressed optimism that with Mamman Tahir in charge, the fortunes of education in Nigeria will take a giant leap.

In a statement made available to this paper on Friday, chairman and convener of the group, Barr. Danladi Danasabe hailed the president for his ability to scout for talents, noting that professor Mamman Tahir is best suited to superintend the critical sector in view of his proven track record, educational profundity and wealth of experience.
“The appointment of Tahir as minister of education is an eloquent testimony to Mr. President’s resolve to turn around the education sector which is currently in a comatose state.

“As we rightly believed, the president has a knack for shopping for the best talents since his days as governor of Lagos State. Appointing Tahir as education minister is a testimony to the fact that the president only works with the best brains the country can offer.
“We have no iota of doubt that Tahir, will deploy his wealth of experience, education, and energy to spearhead the needed reforms to make Nigeria a major education hub in the world.
“The era of education tourism to other parts of the world, incessant strikes, decayed infrastructure will be over as the right man has been appointed,” he said.
Danladi recalled that Mamman Tahir has championed various reforms and innovations when he held sway as the Director General, Nigeria Law School which culminated into building more campuses across Nigeria.
“His reforms when he held away as the Director General of Nigeria Law School are eloquent testimonies to his quest for excellent service.
“During his time, law school campuses were built in many states across Nigeria with Adamawa State as a major beneficiary. Since the opening of the law school campus in Adamawa, our children are comfortably accomplishing their dreams of becoming professional lawyers within the comfort of their homes.
“We believe with such astuteness, track record, knack for excellence, Professor Mamman Tahir will not only hit the ground running but will reposition the education sector in toto,” he added.
Danasabe noted that since his sojourn into politics after his meritorious service to the land, Tahir has maintained an abiding faith in the growth of Nigeria which pushed him to vie for the governorship of Adamawa State.
“Despite his failure to lead the state, the zeal of Maman Tahir to give his robust contributions to the development of our motherland only grew in leaps and bounds culminating in his appointment as the north east vice chairman of APC during the Mai-Mala Buni reign as the caretaker chairman of the APC.
“He also worked very hard to ensure the dream of the incumbent president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the country came to fruition,” Danasabe said.
Tahir Mamman OON, is a Professor of law, Senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and educational administrator and the Director-general of the Nigeria Law School from 2005 to 2013.
Before his current appointment as minister of education, he was the vice chancellor of Baze University Abuja. He is also a member governing board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He is a recognized member of the Body of Benchers. In 2010 he became a board member of the International Association of Law Schools based in Washington DC.
In September 2015, he was conferred as a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN). In recognition of his efforts, the Federal Government of Nigeria bestowed him with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
