MAU partners USIP trains peace building advocates in northeast
To restore peace in the northeast region ravaged by insurgency, herders/farmers clashes, Centre for Peace and Security Studies (CPSS) Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola, in conjunction with United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has organised training for peace building advocates in northeast Nigeria.

While speaking at the training yesterday in Yola, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration (DVC) professor Ja’afaru Inuwwa said that the training is timely looking at the high level of bloody crises ravaging the northeast region.

He commented CPSS management for taking up the challenge of organising trainings that can help to restore peace in the region and other parts of the country.

He urged the participants who were selected from the six states in the northeast to take advantage of the training and retrain others to promote peace in the region
In his remarks at the training the representative of USIP Mr. Terfa Hemen, said that the institute provide training , guidance, resources and analysis for those working to prevent or reduce violent conflict and other peace building measures.
He pointed out that the institute provide grants for research and fieldwork, convening conferences and also promote international peace building the resolution of conflicts among nations and people of the world without recourse to violence.
Hemen said that USIP work in partnership with non-governmental organisations, higher and secondary educational institutions, international organisations and local organisations.
In his welcome address the Director of CPSS professor Jude Momudu, said that the aim of the training is to engage more peace builders in the training to ensure that modern technics in resolving crises is deployed in tackling conflicts.
He pointed out that the Centre will continue to discharge it responsibilities of promoting peace building in class and in the field.
