ACReSAL kicks off 2 day sensitisation workshop on climate change
The Agro-climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes Project (ACReSAL) has declared open a two day sensitisation workshop and interactive session on climate change for community leaders and other stakeholders in Adamawa state.
Declaring the workshop open at Muna Hotels Conference Hall Yola, the Hon. Commissioner Min. Of Environment Adamawa state Alh. Mohammed Sadiq, described Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state as environmental friendly Governor due to his timely and vibrant policies on weather and climate.
Sadiq announced that the monthly sanitation observed every last Saturdays of every month has been restored by the Fintiri led administration in Adamawa.

He added that the state government Suspended cutting down of trees because of its dangers to the society and a serious setbacks on afforestation drive.
Speaking, the vice chairman house committee on environment ADSHA Mr. Kefas Kelvin, expressed the readiness of the house to make laws that will help in protecting the environment.
Mr. Kelvin who is the member representing Toungo in the Adamawa state House of Assembly called on the participants to take the programme with outmost serious for the benefit of all.
Earlier in an opening remarks, the Senior Special Adviser to Adamawa state Governor on environment Alh. Usman Yahaya Diyajo says “ACReSAL programme was established by Adamawa state government in collaboration with the world bank.
In an interview with newsmen, one of the participants Alh. Bashiru Sa’idu Lawan who is the District Head of Bazza, promised to compliment government efforts in sensitising people and protecting the environment.
The District Head frowned at how some people compromise and undermine government efforts in trying to ensure better environment.
The theme for the programme is “trees and humility; the need for urgent action on building sustainable Ecosystem”
The ACReSAL project has a mission and vision of addressing environmental challenges arising from climate and poor landscape practices in Northern Nigeria to have strong practices and polices on ecological restoration and a climate change Resilient community.
