20-yr-old bride in police net for burning husband’s new house in Adamawa

Amina Hassan, a 20-year-old bride from Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has been arrested for reportedly setting her husband’s newly built house on fire.

Amina’s action was reportedly triggered by her husband’s refusal to grant her a divorce.

The couple were said to have made the agreement before their marriage.

According to reports, Amina had informed her parents that she was no longer interested in the marriage a few days before the wedding.

However, they insisted that the wedding must go ahead as they had already distributed invitation cards.

After the wedding, she sought the help of a native doctor to make her husband hate her and grant her a divorce.

The native doctor reportedly performed a ritual and collected N12,000 for his services.

However, the ritual ended up turning Amina’s heart away from her husband instead of the other way round.

After she was apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command, the suspect confessed to the committing the crime.

This newspaper reports that the case is currently being investigated as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola.

Spokesman of the Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, quoted Amina on Tuesday, as saying, “We made an arrangement that he will divorce me after the marriage. I met him and pleaded with him to divorce me, but he remained adamant.”

In another development, the state police command has on 6/11/2023 arrested two suspected tricycle thieves.

According to Nguroje, the police received report from One Emmanuel Philibus a resident of Damare Yelwa Quarters, Yola South Local Government Area that His Tricycle With Reg. No. YLA 169 VE was stolen by unknown persons

According to Nguroje, “the commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola viewed the report seriously. Hence, He deployed officers of the command to detect, trace, arrest and investigate the report.

“Interestingly, detective officers of the command attached to Yola area command, on 14/11/2023 arrested two suspects identified as Zaro Irimiya and Samaila Obadiah all residents of Salti village and Yelwa – Damare of Numan/Yola South Local Government Areas in connection to the Crime.

“Investigation Conducted led to the recovery of the Stolen Tricycle.
The Police Boss Directs Suspects be Prosecuted accordingly.”
