Sen Abbo’s claim of distributing 6000 bags of rice fictional – Mubi resident
An erstwhile political associate of immediate past senator representing Adamawa North senatorial zone, senator Ishaku Abbo, Mr. Zadock Solomon has described the claim of distribution of 6,000 bags of rice by the senator as fictional noting that the claim represents the height of political bankruptcy.
In a phone chat with our correspondent, Solomon, a native of Mubi South said the youth of the area extended unsolicited support to Abbo in 2019 general election because of his youthful age thinking that he will never betray the trust and confidence they had in him.

“I’m one of the youth who stoutly supported Abbo to become the senator in 2019 because of the belief that as a youth, he will never disappoint us. But be that as it may, he has not only disappointed us but has betrayed us. That is why we parted company with him since he is only working to promote his personal whims,” he said.
When asked to expatiate his claim that the former senator lied about the 6,000 bags he claimed to distribute during the last Ramadan period, Solomon noted that Abbo only distributed 16 bags of rice.
“The man shared only 16 bags of rice as captured by the picture of the event but dishonorably and mischievously, wrote and claimed that he distributed 6,000 bags. Is that not the height of political subterfuge? We invested tremendous goodwill in Abbo because of his youthful age but he decided to betray the people. Since he became our senator he has been feeding us with lies and deceits that is why we decided to dump him,” he added.
Asked whether he has evidence to substantiate his claims, Solomon said in the whole length and breath of the M5 local governments, no one has seen the rice which the senator claimed to have shared amongst the people.
“Do you in all honesty think that 6,000 bags were shared in M5 local governments and yet no one claimed to receive such items. Apart from the symbolic flag off of the items where 16 bags were distributed no one has seen even morsel of such rice.
“I have interacted with youth groups, women groups, religious groups, even members of his own political party but they denied ever receiving a crumb of the rice allegedly distributed. Such is the height of Abbo’s desperation to cling to straws and lies for his political survival,” Solomon added.
In fact it is my humble belief that the senator brought out the palliative he was given before his election was quashed by the appeal court because his colleagues from other senatorial zones namely Sen Binos D. Yaroe and Sen Aminu Iya Abbas all shared palliatives in the course of the first six months of assumption into the 10th Senate.
“We are suspecting that Abbo brought a small portion of the rice he hoarded when he was still a member of the senate before his election was quashed by the court. It is on record that the two other senators representing Adamawa State have variously shared palliatives to their constituents during the time under review with the exception of Abbo.
“That is why we are asking him to come clean on the the subject otherwise we will hold him accountable for shortchanging the people of M5 local governments. We can no more allow our people to be shortchanged again by unscrupulous politicians,” he said.
Efforts to get the reaction of Senator Abbo proved abortive as both SMS and WhatsApp messages sent to his phone lines were not responded to as at the time of filing this report. A phone call to his phone number was neither picked nor returned.
Our correspondent also tried to speak with the owner of the company who supplied the senator with the said bags of rice. When contacted through the phone and told about the mission, the businessman said he was busy at the time of the call but urged our correspondent to call later in the day. But when he was called again for a follow up, he simply disconnect the line and has not called since then.
