Accolades as doyen of Adamawa c/service, Sunday vows out @ 60th birthday
The banquet hall of government house Yola was on Friday evening pervaded by a mood of ecstasy and celebration as friends, colleagues, associates and well wishers of Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday took turns to pour encomiums on the immediate past head of service of Adamawa State, on attaining his 60th birthday.
Sunday who is the current chief of staff, to governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri vows out of civil service after an enchanting and fulfilling career spanning several decades.

They described Sunday as a fountain of knowledge, whose contributions to the development of the civil service, society and knowledge can never be over emphasized.
Taking the lead to appreciate the retiring head of service, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the celebrant has played a vital role in the advancement of the state adding that such glaring contributions made him to appoint Sunday as his chief of staff.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa G Farauta noted that with any attainment of feat, comes and added responsibility that is why her principal decided to bring Sunday onboard so as to tap from his deep knowledge, experience and world views in shaping the policy direction of the state.
She said Fintiri is a governor who cherishes and values knowledge and intellect that is why he consults with all his senior appointees in the process of policy making for the betterment of the citizenry.
In his speech, the chairman of the occasion and Nigeria’s immediate past secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha described Sunday as a goal getter, a reliable ally and a patriotic son of Adamawa State.
He commended governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his foresight and wisdom in appointing Sunday as his chief of staff adding that bringing men of caliber, timbre and deep knowledge, is a pointer to the desire of the governor to achieve excellence.
He noted that to underscore the value of Sunday in the eyes of the people, the chief of staff was appointed into very sensitive positions by governments of different political parties in the state adding that such feats can only be attained on the alter of credibility and accomplishments.
Also speaking, the immediate predecessor of Sunday, Dr. Louis Mandama acknowledged the roles played by Sunday in the development of civil service in the state which entailed his rapid career progression.
He said the retired civil servant is a man widely respected for his contributions to state craft at local and national levels.
Also contributing to the discourse, the Adamawa State chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Fashe described Sunday as straight talker and very blunt. He said the NLC will sorely miss him being on its side but expressed optimism that with his candid and blunt stance on issues, Sunday will influence labour friendly policies in the state.
Also in his presentation, the keynote speaker of the event, Professor Umar Pate also made glowing tributes on the celebrant describing him as a highly rated son of the state on account of his accomplishments.
Umar who delivered a lecture on the theme identity, diversity and solidarity: A case for national praxis thanked Sunday for giving him the opportunity to present the lecture during the auspicious occasion.
He described Sunday as a gifted fellow at heart and spirit adding that Adamawa State will continue to be proud of him for his numerous contributions to the development of knowledge and humanity.
He added that his appointment by governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as his chief of staff is a testimony to the credible service he rendered to the state.
Thanking the people of Adamawa and government of Adamawa State, the celebrant, promised to do more to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He thanked all those who spare their time to grace the occasion for their goodwill and immense gesture.
