Adamawa CAN chair empathizes with Yola traders over market fire, calls for cooperation with govt
The newly elected Adamawa State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev’d Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, has called on victims of Yola market fire disaster to comply with the decision of Government as it put forward measures to remodel the market.
The State CAN Chairman who announced a donation of the sum of N250,000 in support of the victims of the disaster during the visit, recalled the measures put in place by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to remodel the market and urged the traders to comply and support the Government.

Rev’d Dr. Joel Manzo, made the call when he led leadership of the Christian body in the State while on his first outing as the State CAN Chairman to sympathize with the victims of the unfortunate development in Yola South LGA.
While sympathizing with the victims, the CAN Chairman noted that it is unfortunate that the situation happened at a critical period in history of the country considering the current economic situation.
According to him the market is an important meeting point for both traders and their customers in Yola South and by extension the state at large irrespective of religion, ethnicity or tribe noting that the Christian body found it necessary to visit, sympathize and present it’s widow’s mite to cushion the effect of the loses incurred by traders in the market.
He maintained that irrespective of ones religion, what happened is a course for concerned and appealed to philanthropists and the well to do in the state to come in with assistance to support the victims.
He noted the measures already taken by the Government by constituting a committee of experts to make its own findings and report back with the aim of finding lasting solutions that will make the market user friendly.
He therefore called on the traders in the market to respect and comply with Government as it work towards remodeling the market for their own benefit and the state at large.
Earlier in their remarks the chairman of the market Ali Kachalla and that of Rana ta fito, Ya’uba Usman, appreciated the state CAN leadership for taking their time to visit and sympathize with them in their trying moment.
According to them irrespective of religion the disaster has affected the traders saying that the donation made by the Christian body will go a long way in assisting the victims.
