Palliative: Sen Yaroe distributes food non-food items to elderly, windows
Widows, the elderly and other vulnerable persons in rural communities across nine (9) LGAs that constitute Adamawa Southern Senatorial District have benefitted from palliatives distributed by the Senator representing the District, Sen Binos Dauda Yaroe aimed at cushioning their hardship.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, the Senator said that it became imperative to reach out to the vulnerable within his constituency due to the high cost of living in the country, noting that proper measures have been put in place to ensure the food and non-food items reach the targeted population at the various rural communities.

According to Senator Yaroe all the committees set up for effective distribution of the palliative across the 9 LGAs have the mandate to explore ways to ensure the distribution is done equitably.
Senator Yaroe said that the Federal Government and its agencies from time to time bring out palliatives to the needy to alleviate their sufferings during periods of hardship adding that the items being distributed come directly from the federal government.
The Adamawa South Senator expressed commitment and determination to uplift the welfare and wellbeing of his constituents through various people-oriented programmes for the betterment of all and sundry.
He stated, “I came up with free medical outreach for the sole purpose of improving the wellbeing of my constituents. I will continue to enhance the health status of the people in my constituency through the provision of free medical services.
“These are some of the interventions I have been doing as temporary measures. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has been providing lasting solutions in the Health Sector by constructing and renovating general hospitals and cottage hospitals across the State.
“The Governor has not only constructed and renovated hospitals, he has employed medical personnel to man these health facilities. He has also brought equipment and drugs at the hospitals. This is really commendable”.
The Senator said that in his quest to enhancing the livelihoods of Adamawa South people, he drilled and commissioned over thirty (30) motorized and solar industrial boreholes in rural communities across the 9 LGAs, adding that the drilling of four (4) high powered industrial boreholes are currently ongoing; two (2) in Mayo-Belwa, one (1) in Numan and one (1) in Demsa; describing potable water as key to good health.
He disclosed that in empowerment and skills acquisition, he trained over fifty (50) youths in solar technologies, adding that this effort is meant at shifting to energy renewable sources.
In his words, “In fact, recently one of the youths we trained got employment in one of the solar energy companies in Lagos, with an accommodation and a car. He was tested and proven to be good. There are many of such trained youths who are now useful to themselves, their families and the society as a whole.
“In addition to that, I am constructing two skills acquisition centres. One in Numan and one in Mayo-Belwa which will double as a computer based centre. There is also a proposal that I have submitted which if approved, we will have a proper computer based test centre constructed in Demsa by the National Communications Commission (NCC), which I happen to be a member of the committee that oversees the commission”.
He noted with dismay that there is no computer based test centre in the whole of Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone where students and the youth in the zone have to go to either Yola or Jalingo for any recruitment exercise since all recruitments are now computer based.
Hence, the Senator saw the need to ensure an effective and functional computer based test centre is established in Demsa for the betterment of his constituents.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after collecting palliative items, the representative of Lamurde LGA, Mr Dimas Bello, said that he and his committee would ensure workable measure is put in place to ensuring the items get to the targeted people; widows, the elderly and other vulnerable persons.
This is also the submission of Mrs Yosi Lerum, the representative of Jada LGA. She assured the Senator that her committee would ensure the items get to the people that are meant for.
Disclosing the quantities of the items to be distributed, the representative of Shelleng LGA, Hon. Philip Kenan, said that each of the nine (9) LGAs would get 300 bags of rice, 200 bags of sugar, 100 pieces of mats, 100 pieces of blankets, 200 cartons of spaghetti, 30 gallons of vegetable oil, 100 pieces of children’s clothes among others.
