Nat’l Values: NOA intensifies outreach in Y/South, visits district head, schools, PLWD
In its determination to entrench the National Values Charter in Yola South local government, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has carried out intensive sensitization campaign covering a number of stakeholders.
The Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer, (COMO) of NOA in Yola South LG, Abdullahi Awosanmi in a chat with our correspondent noted that the visits have recorded tremendous milestones and have successfully streamlined the National promise with the citizens codes so as to solidify the seven for seven agenda into a robust national development.

“NOA Yola South directorate is seriously working to move the people forward. It is due to the belief that a nation’s greatness does not only lie in its wealth and prosperity but the positive values inculcated into its citizenry.
“We have so far made tremendous success in reaching out to critical stakeholders including the district head of Yola, people living with disability and have also taken the messages to schools where we interacted with teachers and students. The motive behind the interaction with school children is to catch them young in this very onerous campaign so that they could grow to become responsible citizens,” he said.
He noted that in order to carry everyone along in the quest for robust and inclusive national development, NOA came up with the National Values Charter which is divided into Nigeria’s promise and citizens code.
“The Nigeria’s promise reflects the expectations of the citizens from the government which has seven components. They are; equality, democracy, entrepreneurship and employment, peace and security, inclusivity, freedom and justice and meritocracy,” he said.
According to Awosanmi, the citizens codes reflect what the citizens are expected to do to fulfill their own side of the bargain as good citizens adding that in order to achieve that NOA has nationalised the cartoons so that 70 percent of cartoon content should be on Nigeria’s values.
He noted that NOA also introduced citizenship studies which is incorporated into the school curriculum adding that the agency has also established citizens’s brigade in primary and secondary schools amongst others.
He expressed optimism that with the rigorous campaign being undertaken in Yola South, the people and the government will enjoy seamless relationships as a result of enhanced understanding and mutual cooperation.
