Quranic Recitation competition an inspiration for young minds – Hama Batta

Hama Batta, His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladson Teneke, Kpagashe Diyoshifuto Tikulo Batta has described the Quranic recitation competition as a vital opportunity to inspire young minds with values of faith, discipline, tolerance and understanding the qualities needed to navigate complex social and political realities.

Hama Batta made the assertion during the closing ceremony of 39th Edition of Adamawa State Quranic Recitation competition, held at his palace in Demsa in Demsa Local Government Area.

“This competition serves as more than just a display of Quranic recitation skills. It provides a vital opportunity to inspire young ones with values of faith, discipline, tolerance and understanding, qualities we need now more than ever, given the complexities of our social and political realities.

“As we gather today, the teachings of the Holy Quran remind us to uphold justice, embrace unity and built bridges across our diverse communities.

“We are particularly proud and happy that Demsa has hosted this year’s event. This reflects not only the importance of spreading Quranic knowledge but also the commitment of our leaders and people to building a more harmonious and spiritually grounded society. At a time when our state and nation are navigating significant challenges, events like this remind us of the role faith can play in promoting peace and stability,” he said.

The special guest of honour and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar also emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among adherents of different religions in Adamawa State.

Abubakar said the singular gesture demonstrated by Hama Batta will promote religious tolerance and understanding among his subjects and prayed God to bless the kingdom.

In his remark, the guest of honour Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by Commissioner for Local Government Affairs Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, reiterated his administration’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and urged citizens to follow suit.

He commended organizers of the event and encouraged participants to internalize the teachings of the Qur’an in their daily lives.

Earlier, the Chairman of the steering committee, Alhaji Aliyu Ismaila Numan, thanked everyone for making the event successful and congratulated participants on their efforts.

The National Chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Waikamatus Sunnah, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, and Doctor Jabir Maihula, Sokoto State Commissioner for Islamic Affairs presented papers on the importance of the glorious Qur’an and religious tolerance.

There were goodwill messages from Senator Ishaku Abbo and Doctor Bashir Aliyu Hong of Federal College of Education Yola, and Bishop of LCCN among others.

Goni Zakaria Umar and Fauziya Yakubu both from Yola North local government area were crowned as champions of the year.
