You’ve lost the legitimacy to create more districts, Nakura hits Fintiri
• Says Govs action, height of diabolic politics to hurt traditional institution
The convener of Adamawa Concerned Citizen (ACC) Hon. Hussain Gambo Nakura has accused governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of hatching a diabolic plot to desecrate the traditional institution in the state under the guise of the creation of more districts.
Nakura described the move as a manifestation of a self styled destructive agenda against the Fulani traditional institution which the governor vehemently debunked when he was campaigning for second term.

“During his second term campaign, the governor has distanced himself from insinuations that he his harbouring a gargantuan hatred against the Fulani when he was accused of saying that he will destroy the Fulani calabash.
“But from what we are seeing, the governor is subtly trying to reincarnate that agenda through the creation of the new districts,” he said.
He noted that it amounted to bad politics for a government which found it difficult to pay emoluments of the previously created district heads to create new ones, noting that no gains will be achieved through a policy contrived against a certain group of people.
Nakura who vows to resist the planned creation of new districts, said, he will challenge the decision in court as it was not hatched and executed in good faith.
“I have send my concerns against the creation of the new districts to Adamawa State house of assembly and the assembly did not deemed it fit to invite me for clarifications. And as expected, no public hearing was convened to hear peoples reaction on the contentious matter.
“I will forward the same concern to the governor and will challenge the decision in court if the governor failed to retrace his steps. I see no wisdom in creating 83 new districts when some of the districts he created earlier had neither offices nor salaries. Some of the districts heads were operating for close to 11 months without salary.
“Again, I see no wisdom for a government that failed to address district head tussle in two local governments to create new ones. The case of district head of Maiha has lingered for over six years after court has passed verdict on who should be the substantive district head of Maiha. And the same thing is happening in Michika on grounds of religion and ethnicity and yet they want to create more districts to satisfy their whimsical political vendetta,” he said.
Reacting to the accusations in a phone chat with our reporter, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou described the allegations as cheap blackmail that will never dent the hard earned reputation of his principal.
He noted that the move to create the new districts emanated from genuine agitations by the people of the state noting that as a responsible government, Adamawa State government only harkened to the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
“The government saw reasons to create the districts after a lot of agitation by the people. The people themselves came out to agitate for districts, the government did not go to their doorsteps to ask them to agitate. They made the agitation on their own. And as a government of the people for the people by the people, the government did exactly what the people wanted.
“I’m surprised that somebody is saying that the creation of districts will create disharmony and dis-affection. This is far from the truth. In actual sense, the creation of districts will create more unity because there have been infighting between people who are under one district,” he said.
On the issue of salary, Wonosikou described Nakura’s position as I’ll informed on the grounds that the issue of salaries has been well spelt out in the bill for the creation of new districts, adding that he is not surprised Nakura could not take his time to read the content of the bill or decipher it well in line with the saying, if you want to hide something to Africans, put it in writing.
While reacting to the insinuation that Fintiri was waging a war of vendetta against the Fulani, Wonosikou said such outcries should have come from the Fulani’s themselves.
“I have not heard the Tabital Pulaaku making such insinuations. The accuser is the only one making such accusations so he is on his own. Fintiri has no vendetta against anyone. Adamawa people are one and the same. No state in Nigeria enjoys the kind of unity we enjoy in Adamawa. So one person cannot reverse that achievement,” he said.
