Sen Yaroe vows to rejuvenate education, commissions 3 classrooms at Kpasham
In a move reflecting his deep commitment to revitalize education in Adamawa South Senatorial District, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe has reiterated his unwavering dedication to transform the education sector, recognizing its pivotal role in shaping the future of any society.
The senator made this known during the official commissioning of a newly reconstructed three-classroom block and a principal’s office at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Kpasham, located in Demsa Local Government Area on Thursday.

The project, executed with support from the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving the quality of learning environments across the district.
Senator Yaroe extended his heartfelt gratitude to NDIC for its vital intervention and also acknowledged the instrumental role played by Senator Mukhail Adetokumbo Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, whose support facilitated this opportunity for Adamawa South.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Senator Yaroe expressed concern over the declining state of educational infrastructure, particularly at the primary and secondary school levels. He described the situation as alarming and pledged that he would not relent in his efforts to restore and rejuvenate the sector.
He also cited previous interventions, including a recent school project commissioned in Mbula Ward, Demsa Local Government Area, funded by the Nigerian Army. He emphasized that through collective efforts—whether by government, military, or private institutions—progress is gradually being made. “One classroom block at a time, one school at a time, one community at a time—we are making a difference,” he said.
He further noted that education is on the concurrent legislative list in the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which means all tiers of government have a role to play. He assured constituents that as long as he remains in office, he will continue to push for initiatives that uplift the educational standard in the region.
Representing the NDIC at the event, Zonal Controller Ismail Mahmud highlighted the organization’s commitment to community development through education. He described the project as a part of NDIC’s corporate social responsibility and urged the community to take ownership of the facility, ensuring it is well protected and maintained.
Mahmud also stressed that education remains a cornerstone of national development and said the agency hopes this intervention would foster a more productive learning environment.
The District Head of Kpasham, His Royal Highness Simeon J. Hanya, expressed profound gratitude to both Senator Yaroe and the NDIC for bringing the much-needed development to the community. He assured all stakeholders of his commitment to safeguarding the project for the benefit of future generations.
The school principal, Mr. Homotufe Beware, also shared his joy and appreciation during the event. He described the new building as a landmark achievement in the history of GDSS Kpasham. Recalling the devastation caused by a windstorm in 2003 that destroyed the classroom block, he explained how persistent efforts to solicit help finally paid off when Senator Yaroe intervened.
“This structure represents a turning point for our school. For years, we struggled, but today, with the senator’s help, we have a reason to hope,” Mr. Beware said. He thanked all parties involved and urged both teachers and students to maximize the use of the facility for educational advancement.
This event underscores Senator Yaroe’s enduring focus on education as a tool for empowerment and development, and signals a continued drive toward uplifting the future of Adamawa South.
