1,917 patients get free treatment as Sen Yaroe conducts medical outreach in Borrong
The people of Borrong and surrounding communities in Demsa Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State have benefited from a large-scale free medical outreach organized by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) and implemented by ALKAF Global Investment Resource Limited, provided much-needed medical services to nearly 2,000 patients on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

The Binos Mobile Hospital was stationed at the Primary Health Care (PHC) facility in Borrong, facilitating medical consultations, treatments, and minor procedures, while major surgeries took place at the General Hospital Borrong. This outreach was one of many similar initiatives undertaken by Senator Yaroe to improve access to healthcare for residents of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
Providing an overview of the outreach, Dr. Rephath Pius, Principal Medical Officer (PMO) of General Hospital Numan, disclosed that approximately 1,850 outpatients were treated, while 67 surgical procedures were successfully carried out, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1,917.
He further detailed the surgeries performed, which included 21 herniorrhaphies, 8 appendectomies, 3 cystectomies, and 3 myomectomies, among others. Dr. Pius emphasized that all surgeries were conducted without complications, ensuring the patients received the best possible care.
During the outreach, Senator (Rev.) Binos Dauda Yaroe reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the quality of life for his constituents by continuing to provide free medical services. Represented by his 2023 Campaign Director-General, Mr. Katawan Boniface, the Senator stated that ensuring the well-being of the people in his district remained a top priority. He vowed to sustain and expand such initiatives to benefit even more residents in need of medical care.
The event was also attended by traditional leaders who expressed their gratitude for the initiative. His Royal Majesty, the Murum Mbula, Bentley Biyapo, lauded Senator Binos for recognizing the urgent need for healthcare interventions in his Chiefdom. He noted that the outreach would significantly impact the well-being of his subjects, particularly those who lacked financial means to seek medical attention.
Echoing this sentiment, the District Head of Borrong, Mr. Lusum Naina, assured the Senator of his full support and cooperation in ensuring the continued provision of essential healthcare services. “Many people suffer from illnesses they cannot afford to treat. This outreach has been a lifesaver. I appreciate Senator Binos Yaroe for bringing this initiative to Borrong,” he remarked.
An official of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mr. Sunday Stephen Naira, emphasized the significance of the outreach, noting that it had reached those most in need of medical attention. “Primary healthcare is essential for communities. This outreach has addressed medical needs that might have otherwise gone unattended,” he said, commending Senator Yaroe for his commitment to healthcare development.
Victoria Bilkisu Ibrahim, a representative of ALKAF Global Investment Resource Limited, shared her impressions of the initiative. She recalled attending similar medical outreaches organized by Senator Binos in Shelleng and Toungo LGAs in 2021 and was once again impressed by the massive turnout of patients in Borrong. “Like the previous outreaches, this one has exceeded expectations in terms of impact and attendance,” she said.
Dr. Ishaya Micah Kunyima, Principal Medical Officer (PMO) of General Hospital Borrong, described the outreach as the first of its kind in the community. He expressed appreciation for the expertise displayed by the Binos Medical Team and the seamless organization of the event. “Since assuming duty over a year ago, this is my first time participating in Senator Binos’ medical outreach. The turnout was overwhelming, and the variety of medical cases handled in a single day was truly remarkable,” he stated.
Dr. Jama Medan, the Medical Team Lead, reassured the people of Borrong that all services provided during the outreach were completely free of charge. He encouraged them to cooperate with the medical personnel to ensure smooth operations. According to him, the medical team consisted of healthcare professionals drawn from hospitals across the country, as well as health workers from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), all of whom were committed to treating ailments and diseases prevalent in the community.
One of the most remarkable cases handled during the outreach was that of a 32-year-old woman diagnosed with multiple fibroids, a twisted left adnexal mass, and a ruptured appendix. She received a free exploratory laparotomy, a procedure that would have cost approximately N500,000 in a private medical facility.
Another significant case involved a woman who had suffered from a large myoma for over 20 years. She finally received the necessary surgery at no cost, thanks to the outreach. Additionally, 10 pediatric patients, aged 2 to 10, underwent hernia repairs—surgeries that their families would have struggled to afford under normal circumstances.
Among the many grateful beneficiaries was Mrs. Ruth Simon, whose daughter underwent a surgery that had initially been priced at N130,000 in a hospital. “We were unsure how we would raise the money for the surgery, but then Senator Binos Yaroe’s free medical outreach came to our rescue,” she said, expressing profound gratitude for the assistance her family received.
Another beneficiary, Dan Fulani, praised the outreach for being inclusive and free of any form of discrimination. “There was no religious or ethnic bias. Everyone was treated equally and with respect. Senator Binos deserves commendation for ensuring that all constituents, regardless of background, benefit from these life-saving interventions,” he stated.
The free medical outreach in Borrong once again underscored Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to underserved communities. Through his partnership with NPHCDA and ALKAF Global Investment Resource Limited, thousands of people have gained access to critical medical services, reinforcing his dedication to the welfare of his constituents in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
