Adamawa police condemn arson in Lamurde, Guyuk LGs vow swift action
The Adamawa State Police Command has strongly condemned recent arson attacks in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas, warning that anyone involved in inciting violence will face the full weight of the law.
According to a statement issued on July 3, 2025, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, unidentified individuals on July 2 set ablaze thatched huts in Lafiya, Lamurde LGA, and Boshikiri village in Guyuk LGA.

The attacks resulted in the complete destruction of properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+), described the incidents as “mischief by fire” and ordered an immediate and discreet investigation into the matter. He also directed the urgent deployment of police personnel to both communities to prevent any escalation and to track down the perpetrators.
“The Command will not tolerate any form of lawlessness. Anyone found culpable of instigating or participating in such acts will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law,” the CP warned.
“Residents of the affected communities and the state at large are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding. The police also appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious movements or individuals in their areas to the nearest security post,” the statement said.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintain peace and protect lives and property across the state.
