NUJ celebrates Adamawa first lady, Lami Fintiri over humanitarian award
The Adamawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extended heartfelt congratulations to the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, on her emergence as the First Lady of the Year (Health Care & Grassroots Empowerment) at the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards and Magazine.
The award, which recognizes exceptional humanitarian service, was the result of a competitive public voting process.

It honours Hajiya Lami Fintiri’s impactful work in maternal health, child immunization, and her continued efforts to expand inclusive healthcare services, especially among grassroots communities in Adamawa State.
In a statement signed by NUJ Chairman Abdullahi Ibrahim and Secretary Kissinger Bukar, the council praised the First Lady’s commitment to improve the lives of women and children, and noted her consistent advocacy for girl-child development and support for vulnerable groups.
The NUJ also recalled her recent emergence as Vice Chairperson of the Cancer Association under the umbrella of the 36 Governors’ Wives Forum, a recognition that further highlights her leadership in public health and social welfare at the national level.
“Her Excellency’s recognition is a testament to the remarkable strides recorded in various spheres of human development in the state under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri,” the statement said.
Reiterating its support, the NUJ pledged to continue promoting advocacy for the most vulnerable groups in Adamawa including women, children, and persons with disabilities, in line with the vision and efforts of the First Lady.
The union commended both the First Lady and the Governor for their dedication to the welfare of citizens and promised to sustain media efforts that complement ongoing humanitarian and developmental initiatives in the state.
