Gov Fintiri unveils Adamawa peace, conflict resolution and social integration commission
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has inaugurated the Adamawa State Peace, Conflict Resolution, and Social Integration Commission, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to foster unity, justice, and long-lasting peace across the state.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Yola, Governor Fintiri described the establishment of the commission as a proactive step towards addressing the root causes of communal conflict, religious intolerance, political violence, and ethnic division that have historically undermined the state’s development.

“This commission is a vital part of our vision for a peaceful and inclusive Adamawa.
“Our aim is to create institutional frameworks that can mediate disputes, promote reconciliation, and rebuild trust among communities,” he said.
He stressed that peace is a prerequisite for development and urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, and youth groups to support the commission’s mission.
The governor noted that Adamawa’s diversity must be seen as an asset rather than a source of conflict and called on all citizens to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Governor Fintiri expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly inaugurated members of the commission to deliver on their mandate and emphasized that their work would be guided by fairness, transparency, and community participation.
The Peace Commission is expected to mediate in inter-communal disputes, design peace-building initiatives, and promote social integration programs, particularly in conflict-prone areas of the state.
Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for violence and his commitment to build a state where justice, equity, and peace prevail.
