The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation following the circulation of disturbing images on social media showing students dressed in police and military uniforms during a costume day celebration.

According to the Command, the students were captured in indecent and unacceptable acts while wearing the uniforms, portraying security agencies in a negative light. The police stressed that such behavior is not only reckless but also criminal.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankombo, the Command described the unauthorized use of police uniforms as an offence punishable under Nigerian law.

“The unauthorized use of Police uniforms is a criminal offence punishable under the law. Such reckless acts do not only undermine the integrity of security agencies but also mislead the public, and will not be tolerated,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation to identify all individuals and institutions involved, with a view to ensuring they face the consequences of their actions.

The Command further issued a stern warning to individuals, groups, and institutions to desist from the unauthorized use of security uniforms, emphasizing that anyone found guilty will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.

The statement reiterated the Police Command’s commitment to upholding discipline and protecting the integrity of the Force. It also urged the public to respect security agencies and report any misuse of uniforms to the authorities.

The Adamawa State Police Command assured that the outcome of the investigation will be made public.
