PLWDs in Adamawa laud Jobberman for creating pathways for entrepreneurial, career dev
People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) in Adamawa State have expressed profound gratitude to Jobberman Nigeria for providing them with a pathway for their personal, entrepreneurial and career development during a special career and business forum for PLWDs.
Jobberman Nigeria, is a foremost career development and recruitment solutions company. In conjunction with the Mastercard Foundation, Jobberman convened a highly successful event in Yola on Saturday.

The event themed, Empowered to Achieve More, was designed to provide job seekers and business owners (existing and aspiring) with direction on how to advance in their growth pursuits.
Participants at the event raved on and on about the impact of the event in their plans going forward.
A participant, Aine Amana who lauded the initiative noted that the sessions have sculptured her to become a resourceful, ambitious and prospective business manager.
”I have got a renewed energy and motivation to set short and long-term career goals and understood that
disability does not define my abilities or limit opportunities,” she said.
Another participant Coleman Christopher also expressed profound happiness over what he termed “once in a lifetime opportunity”.
” After the various sessions, I now have a clearer understanding of career options available to people with disabilities across various sectors. I also have a deeper understanding of the numerous job opportunities on the Jobberman platform and gained practical knowledge of how to align personal strengths with career paths,’ he said.
One of the panelists encouraged the attendees with their story saying that “Living with disability should not be misconstrued as a death sentence. With the right attitude, positive energy, continuous search for knowledge and career growth, I know you can make it.”
Their story created a palpable hope in the room that the event’s objectives are indeed achievable for Persons With Disabilities.
In her welcome speech, the Senior Consultant, the Strategy team, Jobberman Nigeria, Oladoyin Kolawole, iterated the organisation’s commitment to providing the necessary all-encompassing support for career and business advancement to job seekers and business owners, especially, Persons With Disabilities in marginalised places.
”This forum is essentially designed to support individuals within the state and cut across young people from 18 – 35 years old who identified that there are gaps and they are here to bridge the gaps and share insights to help them understand that beyond their disability they are empowered to achieve more.
”And we are here with a rich panel with a lived experiences from persons like them who have come through this journey. We have entrepreneurship workshop which is designed to share insights on how they can set up businesses and even sustain existing ones. We have career counselling sessions also designed to support them and help them get ideas on how to better structure their systems,” she said.
The special career and business forum featured a comprehensive programme including a riveting panel session where the panelists shared real life analogies, examples and anecdotes for not just surviving as a Person With Disability but thriving and forging on with the tools at one’s disposal.
The session was followed by a career and business counselling session where participants had the chance to ask questions pertaining to their peculiar situations, and plans.
The transformative impact of the events were echoed in the feedback from several participants.
Another participant Hannatu Lawrence said the impact of the training on her career path development could not be overemphasized adding that with skills learnt she is set to conquer the world.
”I have learnt the rudiments and nuances of entrepreneurship. With the new skills and knowledge at my disposal, I’m now set to conquer the world,” she emphasized.
The Adamawa Forum For Persons With Disabilities reiterated Jobberman’s position as a committed agent of positive change in the world of work, transforming upcoming and established professionals in their respective career journeys. The event was a testament to the organisation’s mission to empower Persons With Disabilities with skills and opportunities for growth in both employment and entrepreneurial endeavours.
