FCE Yola apologizes to victims of 2020 job racketeering
The management of the Federal College of Education, (FCE), Yola has expressed suitable penitence to the victims of 2020 job racketeering in the collage, saying it is working round the clock to regularize the situation.

In a public apology issued by the Information and Protocol Unit and signed by the College Registrar, Mallam Gidado Ahmed, the collage said the employment was done without approvals from any of the relevant federal government authorities.

The institution accused the former acting registrar of the collage, Yahaya Hammanyaji of masterminding the job racketeering in which close to 1,000 persons were scammed.

“The College regretted the actions of the former College acting Registrar, Yahya Hammanyaji Jada, who is accused of masterminding the recruitment scandal in which close to 1000 “paying applicants” were involved,” the statement said.
This paper learnt that the action of the college management was a response to the demands of the victims for justice as some of them claimed they were scammed of their life savings just as they urged the management to prosecute the former acting registrar.
Most of those who were offered employment letters according to findings by this paper were allegedly charged different amounts of money, ranging from N800,000 to N1,000,000 per employment slot, by the job recruitment syndicate.
The college which described the 2020 exercise as a grave error urged the victims to exercise patience promising to consider them in future job openings.
“The Federal College of Education, Yola, has viewed with great concern, the plight of candidates who were issued letters of appointment in 2020 but are yet to be fully documented.
“The College therefore wishes to state that the exercise was done in error as there was no approval from authorities to that effect, and this is regrettable.
The College Registrar who was however, silent on the number of persons scammed, appealed to the victims to exercise patience and avail themselves in future employment opportunities in the college.
However, a report submitted by a fact-finding committee on the recruitment scandal seen by our reporter indicated that no fewer than 930 individuals were scammed in the cash-for-job racketeering.
