The former leading People Democratic Party, PDP aspirant for 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, Otunba Emmanuel Oluwayose (Fayose) has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The move comes amid ongoing efforts by the ADC to form a strong coalition of opposition parties, which was formally launched in July, 2025 to build a united front capable of mounting a credible challenge in 2027 general elections.

During his declaration, Oluwayose described his defection as part of a wider coalition agenda to rescue residents of the state from a rudderless administration headed by Gov. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji which has subjected the people to untold hardship and abject poverty.

“I’m pleased to become part of this party both in body and spirit after my sojourn in PDP, the leaders compromised and sold out the ticket to the ruling party. I look forward to the unity and progress that this platform will bring to Nigerians. My prayer is for wisdom among our leaders and party structure as we embark on this journey”.

He emphasized the need for unity among the leaders of the party, warning against division ahead of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.

He described ADC as National vehicle and a route to total emancipation, saying that the party is blessed with right leaders and patriots. These leaders are Sen. David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, Goodluck Jonathan, Nasiru Elrufai and host of notable others.
