World Radiology Day: Over 200 pregnant women in Jigawa get free ultra sound care at FMC B-KUDU
The Radiology Department of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Birnin Kudu in Jigawa State has conducted a one day free Medical Outreach in Kanwa ward in Jahun Local Government Area of the state.
Malam Shehu Bello, who coordinated the exercise in Kanwa Primary Health Care PHC on Thursday said the outreach was part of their activities to observe the international Day of Radiology/world Radiography day.

He said during the exercise no fewer than 205 pregnant mothers were subjected to voluntary ultra sound scan to determine the health condition of their foetus.
According to him, only one case of inter uterine foetal death was detected saying detection of this anomaly would save the life of the mother.
He added that ten (10) cases of Breech presentation and a case of ovarian cyst among the pregnant mothers were also recorded, stressing the initiative would save life as the affected mothers had been advised to seek medical attention.
”Majority of the pregnant mothers were found to be medically stable as their pregnancies does not present any anomaly” he said.
”We provided packets of detergents and other relevant consumables to the mothers to enhance hygienic living among them” he said.
Malama Talatu Mohammed, a pregnant mother and a beneficiary described the initiative as unprecedented but life saving process.
She commended the organizers of the exercise saying we would heed the advice given to us by the organizers because Health is Wealth.
Bello, lauded the effort of the management of the hospital under the credible leadership of the medical Director Dr Adamu Abdullahi Atterehamie for his regular support to the department which enabled it to successfully conduct the exercise.
Our correspondent reports that the department has in 2024 conducted similar medical outreach in Birnin Kudu metropolis in which 150 pregnant mothers were scanned against pregnancy related abnormalities.
