Gowat women association to celebrate at new amusement park in Adamawa

The Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Hon Aloysius Babadoke, has promised that the Gowat Women Association (GWA) will hold their celebration at the new amusement park in Adamawa State next year. The park is currently under construction.
Babadoke made this announcement at the Gowat Day celebration, held at the Works Training School Jambutu, to commemorate the cultural heritage of the Kanakuru tribe in Shelleng Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State.

He disclosed that his ministry had championed a memo to the state government on the need for an amusement park to promote hospitality and cultural heritage celebrations in the state
The Commissioner praised the GWA for their humanitarian services and health-related initiatives, saying he knows the group for their positive impact in the community.
Mrs Esther Duwaponi, President of GWA, said the association aims to foster unity among its members and promote cultural development.
She stated that GWA has 115 registered members, with Garkuwan Kiri as its patron, Chief Sule Tekile Ginawula.
Duwaponi highlighted the group’s achievements, including providing benches, chairs, and school uniforms to schools and clinics in Shelleng LGA.
The GWA president emphasized the importance of coming together as a group to share ideas and promote unity among members.
Chief Sule Tekile Ginawula, Patron of GWA, also spoke at the event, backing an award to recognize outstanding contributions to the group.
The Gowat Day celebration showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Kanakuru tribe, with traditional music, dance, and food.
