‎Just in: Adamawa ADC crisis escalates to nat’l secretariat as irate youths block Yohanna, Arabi from NWC meeting

‎There is likelygood that Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) may not get materials to kickstart massive membership registration over the lingering leadership imbroglio that has rocked the party since it’s inception.

‎Angry youths from Adamawa today prevented Shehu Yohanna and Mustapha Arabi both claiming leadership of the party access to the venue of the National Working Committee of the party in Abuja today where the distribution of materials for massive membership drive will take place.

‎The party has since being factionalized into many splinter groups, with three people claiming leadership of the party; they are Shehu Yohanna, Saidu Komsiri, Sadiq Dasin.

‎The youths took matters into their hands when they observed that contrary to the name of Shehu Yohanna, who is recognized by Atiku was substituted by Mustapha Arabi.

‎An Adamawa State high Court has in a landmark judgement on Thursday last week denounced both Yohanna and Arabi’s claim of leadership of the party.

‎But the appearance of both Yohanna and Arabi signposts another shift in the rift between the former vice president Atiku Abubakar and former SGF Eng Babachir David Lawal.

‎Last week, the former SGF has evaded the formal registration of Atiku Abubakar into the ADC in his Jada country home which was attended by all the high profile members of the party in Adamawa State.

‎Babachir was alleged to use his position as the North East national Vice chairman of the party to edge Atiku’s preferred chairman so as to have an edge as the membership drive progress.

‎Such perception sparked protests by Adamawa youths who decide to call the bluff of David Lawal saying they cannot allow open injustice to prevail.

‎Speaking to our reporter, a youth leader of the party, Hon Umar Jada said they will never allow a surreptitious and illegitimate person to attend the critical meeting.

‎He said they are aware that Atiku has forwarded the name of Yohanna as the chairman of the party in the state but were shocked to see the name of Mustapha Arabi. He noted that because of that open betrayal they blocked all the two acclaimed chairmen from attending the meeting.

‎”We have mounted a firewall defense against the two from gaining access into the meeting. It is our democratic right to fight every form of injustice. We cannot allow impunity to reign in our beloved party,” he said
