Adamawa ADC reforms; harmonizes exco, bids farewell to crisis
Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is making a calculated move to bolster its strength following the successful reconciliation by the major factions led by Shehu Yohanna and Mallam Saidu Komsiri, culminating in the swearing-in of a new members of party executives to fill vacant executive spaces.
The development marks a significant step toward healing the protracted leadership crisis that trailed the party’s formation in the state, which had earlier produced multiple factional leaderships laying claim to control of the party structure.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, State Chairman Shehu Yohanna declared the crisis effectively over, stressing that the harmonisation process was driven by a shared resolve to build a united and formidable opposition capable of challenging Nigeria’s dominant political parties in the 2027 general elections.
He said with the development, the state exco consists of 44 members as required by the statutes.
Yohanna disclosed that the reconciliation and harmonization of the state exco enjoyed the full backing of the ADC National Secretariat and the party’s national leader, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He described the moment as a turning point for the party in Adamawa, anchored on dialogue, compromise, and internal democracy.
Yohanna commended the commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by stakeholders across the factions, noting that the newly sworn-in members of the Exco is made up of experienced, credible, and widely trusted politicians.
He expressed confidence that the calibre of the new leadership would reposition ADC as a major political force in the state.
Yohanna then issued a stern warning to the party’s transition committee, urging it to confine itself strictly to its constitutional mandate.
He cautioned that registration of new members it has given itself falls outside the committee’s remit and warned against any actions capable of reigniting internal discord.
Former factional chairman Mallam Saidu Komsiri, now the Organising Secretary of the party, described the inauguration of the new exco as the beginning of ADC’s march towards electoral success in 2027.
He warned the transition committee, led by Sadiq Dasin, against any further actions that could undermine party unity.
Komsiri thanked the national leadership, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and key stakeholders for facilitating the reconciliation process.
He also acknowledged the roles played by party elders and the Adamawa State Executive Council in embracing dialogue over division.
“This is not a reward but a call to service. We must rebuild confidence, mobilise support, and strengthen our party structures. Let us bury our differences and work collectively to build a strong, united ADC capable of forming government,” he said.
