
Com of health hails gov Namadi over free education to female nursing & midwifery students
The commissioner of health in Jigawa State, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, has lauded governor Umar Namadi for providing free education to no fewer than 259 female students of Jigawa State college of nursing and midwifery.
The commissioner noted that in demonstration of its strong commitment to education and women empowerment, the Jigawa State Government, distributed academic and training materials to female student midwives across the three campuses of the College in Birninkudu, Hadejia and Babura.
He noted that prior to the initiative, female nursing and midwifery students were paying tuition fees and other academic-related costs noting that the exceptional initiative came to the student and parents as huge relief.
Also speaking, the provost of the Jigawa State College of Nursing Sciences, Mallam Garba Adamu has expressed deep solidarity and appreciation to governor Umar Namadi for his outstanding leadership and commitment to female education.
In a statement he made available to newsmen, the provost said the action of the governor represents a bold and visionary intervention in the history of nursing and midwifery education in Jigawa State.

He noted that the exercise, which took place on Friday 16th, 17th, and 18th January 2026, involved the provision of two sets of uniforms, procedure manuals, training curricula, and other essential instructional materials to a total of 259 female student midwives.
”This intervention aligns squarely with the present administration’s 12-Point Agenda, particularly its strategic focus on education, healthcare system strengthening, and women empowerment.
”It is, by every standard, a noble gesture that deserves recognition, commendation, and sincere appreciation by all beneficiaries and stakeholders,” he said.
The provost added that the College remains steadfast in its commitment to nurture competent, ethical, and professional nurses and midwives, while fully supporting and appreciating policies that strengthen healthcare education and promote the empowerment of the girl child in Jigawa State.
”The Management of the College, on behalf of the students and parents, once again expresses its deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Malam Umar Namadi, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, for this remarkable and life-changing gesture.
”We sincerely pray that Allah (SWT) continues to guide, protect, and support His Excellency in all his endeavors, grants him wisdom and strength in leadership, and rewards him abundantly for his dedication to the development of education, healthcare, and the empowerment of women in Jigawa State,” the provost added.
