Adamawa police nab two suspected kidnappers, recover firearm
The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state with the arrest of two suspected kidnappers in Song Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesman, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the arrest was made on January 24, 2026, following credible intelligence received by operatives attached to Song Divisional Police Headquarters.

Nguroje said acting swiftly, the police, in collaboration with local hunters, carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected criminal hideout located in a remote part of Balma Village, Song LGA.
According to him, during the operation, two male suspects were apprehended. Those arrested are Shaibu Mohammadu, aged 30, and Ja’o Bawa, aged 31, both of varying addresses.
The statement noted that items recovered from the suspects include one locally fabricated revolver rifle, two mobile phones, charms, and other exhibits believed to be linked to their criminal activities.
Nguroje said the recovered firearm has been secured and will be tendered as evidence.
According to him preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnapping operations within Song and its surrounding communities.
Nguroje said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who are currently on the run.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), commended the effective collaboration between the police and members of the community, noting that the success of the operation underscores the importance of timely and credible information from the public.
“He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to rid Adamawa State of criminal elements and maintain public safety.
“The Police Command further encouraged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with useful information, assuring that all arrested suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Nguroje said.
