Fatal accidents: Police to halt unlicensed power bike, car racing in Adamawa
In other to avert frequent fatal accidents on major roads in Adamawa State, the state police command has placed a total ban on unlicensed power bike and car racing.
A statement by the image maker of the state police command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje said, the state police command has observed with serious concern the increasing cases of fatal and dangerous road traffic accidents recorded across major highways and urban roads within the State.

The statement noted that “investigations indicate that most of these accidents are caused by reckless driving, over-speeding, dangerous overtaking, non licensed and illegal road racing involving power bikes and vehicles.”
Nguroje added that in view of these disturbing trends, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, strongly cautions all motorists, commercial drivers, motorcycle riders, and other road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations at all times.
“Consequently, the command has geared up to enforce the ban on power bike racing and vehicle racing on all public roads across Adamawa State, as such acts pose grave danger to lives and property.
“Any individual or group found engaging in these illegal activities will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The CP has further directed officers in charge of Central Motor traffic Division (CMTD), Divisional Police officers (DPOs) and other operational Commanders to intensify patrols, surveillance, and enforcement across major highways, urban roads, and identified flashpoints within the State.
“The command calls on members of the public to cooperate with the Police by reporting cases of reckless driving, illegal racing, and other traffic-related offences. Parents, transport unions, and vehicle owners are also advised to caution their wards, drivers, and riders on the dangers and consequences of reckless driving,” the statement noted.
