APC not founded on religious ideals – Christian youths, urge mass registration
Christian youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State have formally announced the formation of the Adamawa State APC Christian Youths group, declaring that the party is not founded on religious lines and remains inclusive of all Nigerians, irrespective of faith or background.
The group made the declaration on Saturday in Yola during a press conference addressed by Joseph Mwadiyale, State coordinator of the organization.

Mwadiyale outlined that the core mission, vision and commitment of the group is to strengthen unity and participation within the APC at both state and national levels.
Mwadiyale added that the formation of the group became necessary to correct the persistent misconceptions in some quarters that the APC is a party dominated by or meant for a single religious group.
According to him, such perceptions, particularly among some Christian communities, have negatively affected trust, participation and engagement in the party.
He stressed that the APC is a national party built on the principles of inclusiveness, justice, fairness and equal opportunity for all Nigerians, regardless of religion, ethnicity or social background.
The state coordinator emphasized that the identity and ideology of the APC do not support religious exclusion in any form.
Explaining the objectives of the newly formed organization, Mwadiyale said it was created as a strategic and constructive platform to promote unity within the party, encourage active participation of Christian youths in APC activities, bridge communication gaps between the party and Christian communities, and correct misinformation through sustained engagement and dialogue.
He also clarified that the group was not intended to divide the party along religious lines, but rather to strengthen it through broader inclusion, mutual understanding and collective responsibility among members.
He commended the leadership of the APC in Adamawa State for recognizing and accommodating the group, noting that the party’s openness to youths and Christians is a clear demonstration that the APC remains a party for all Nigerians.
He however, makes case for greater inclusion and support of the youths, particularly in party programs, decision-making processes, mobilization activities and leadership development initiatives.
According to him, Christian youths are energetic, educated and willing to serve, and when fully integrated into party structures, they can significantly contribute to grassroots mobilization, party organization and electoral success.
He assured the APC leadership of their total loyalty and unwavering commitment to the growth, unity and victory of the party in Adamawa State just as he also called on Christian youths across the state to embrace the APC, actively participate in its affairs and reject narratives of exclusion.
The convener called on all Christians to partake in the ongoing nationwide APC e-membership registration exercise, which commenced on Monday, January 5, 2026, across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He urged existing members to validate their membership status, while encouraging new and intending members, Christians and Muslims alike, aged 18 years and above to come out en masse and register with the party.
Mwadiyale described the APC as the only political party currently committed to repositioning Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the party remains focused on national development and stability.
He reaffirmed that the APC is neither a Muslim nor a Christian party, but a Nigerian party driven by unity and shared national interest and expressed confidence that with collective effort, the party can build a stronger, more inclusive APC and a better Adamawa State.
