Adamawa progressive elders council parleys APC nat’l chairman, pledges party unity, cohesion
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen the bond of unity, cohesion and internal democracy in All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamawa State chapter.
The council also pledged the party’s comprehensive and sweeping victory in future elections, particularly the 2027 general polls.

This assurance was given on Friday, February 6, 2026, when the Steering Committee of the Council, led by former military administrator, General Buba Marwa (rtd), paid a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, at his residence in Abuja.
Members of the high-powered delegation include; Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei, former Governor of Adamawa State, Barrister Bala James Nggilari, Hon. Minister Muktari Idi Maiha, Mrs. Olvadi Bema Madayi, Barrister Baba Isa, and Ahmad Sajoh.
Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN, sent apologies for his absence due to flight delays from Lagos. Also present to lend strong backing to the delegation was the APC National Vice Chairman, North East, Comrade Salihu Mustapha.
A press release by the media office of the council, sent to newsmen said, the engagement was highly successful with discussions bordering on enhancing mutual respect, cordiality between members of the council and the national secretariat of the party.
The statement noted that other key take aways from the meeting include discussions on the rationale for the formation of the council, its objectives, and strategic direction.
The statement added that the delegation further informed the national chairman that it was established to promote unity, cohesion, and discipline within the APC in Adamawa State, with the ultimate goal of winning all future elections through collective and harmonious action.
“The Council informed the APC National Chairman that it had already taken concrete steps toward achieving its objectives, including the establishment of dedicated committees for mobilization and conflict resolution,” the statement said.
According to the Council, these committees are designed to bring key political actors into the party fold, resolve internal disputes, and ensure peace and harmony, especially during sensitive periods such as congresses and party primaries.
Reiterating its loyalty, the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council pledged total allegiance to the APC leadership at all levels—national, state, local government, and ward.
The Council emphasized that party supremacy remains its guiding principle, assuring Professor Yilwatda that all decisions taken by the party leadership would be respected and upheld.
The delegation also disclosed that the Council emerged from recommendations of a reconciliation committee earlier constituted by the immediate past APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and that it enjoys strong support from the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, regarded as the leader of the APC in Adamawa State.
On party growth, the Council commended the progress of the ongoing APC e-registration exercise in Adamawa State, revealing that the state currently ranks fourth nationwide with about 430,000 registered members. This achievement, the Council said, was the result of synergy between the Elders Council, the State Working Committee, and critical stakeholders across the state. Members of the party were also praised for their massive participation in the exercise.
The delegation appealed to the National Chairman to further strengthen the party by ensuring that Adamawa State is adequately represented and involved in activities at the national level. In particular, the Council raised concern over the omission of Adamawa State from the National Convention Coordinating Committee, describing it as an oversight.
The Council also expressed satisfaction with the growing appeal of the APC nationwide, attributing the influx of new members to the party’s stability and effective leadership
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council further requested formal recognition and registration as a strategic APC support group at the national level. The request was immediately granted by the National Chairman.
The Council also used the occasion to inform Professor Yilwatda of plans to hold a mega rally and reception in Adamawa State for political appointees of the Tinubu administration from the state, inviting him to serve as Chairman of the occasion—an honour he readily accepted.
In response the National Chairman assured members of the Council of their inclusion in congress committees overseeing party activities in other states.
Yilwatda commended the Council for its vision and pledged the National Working Committee’s commitment to positioning the APC for victory nationwide.
He charged party members in Adamawa to work towards ensuring a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and to produce an APC governor and legislators at both state and national levels.
