Hong LGA to unveil dev plan @ one year anniversary of Huba chiefdom

The Huba Chiefdom Traditional Council in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State has unveiled a comprehensive line-up of activities to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the creation and restoration of the Huba Chiefdom.

According to a press release issued by the Council, the anniversary celebration will feature cultural exhibitions, an inter-district football tournament, and the unveiling of the Hong Local Government Development Plan, marking a major milestone in the cultural and administrative rebirth of the Huba people.

The historic celebration will be hosted by His Royal Majesty, Barrister Alheri Bulus Nyako,  Tol Huba, and is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country and beyond.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who created the Huba Chiefdom alongside six others in December 2024 and presented the staff of office to the Tol Huba on February 14, 2025, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.

The statement noted that as part of the celebration, Governor Fintiri will be formally installed as “Midala Huba” by the Tol Huba, in recognition of his historic role in restoring the chiefdom. The installation is described by the Council as a gesture of gratitude to what it termed a “man of uncommon history.”

The statement added that winners of the ongoing Tol Alheri B. Nyako Annual Inter-District Football Tournament will receive trophies and medals on Thursday, February 12, 2026, while a special Juma’at prayer will hold at the Hong Central Mosque on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The grand finale will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Hong Mini Township Stadium, under the chairmanship of Dr. Boss Gida Mustapha, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Activities will include a mini Durbar at the old palace later in the day.

The celebration will conclude on Sunday, February 15, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at the Unity Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN No. 1), Hong.

The Huba community has invited friends, neighbours, and members of the press to witness the historic celebration.
