Galadima Steals Show at Fintiri’s Reception, ‘Next Governor’ Chants Echo at Ribadu Square

The historic grand reception for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s formal defection and integration into the All Progressives Congress (APC) drew massive crowds to Ribadu Square in Yola today, marking a pivotal realignment in Adamawa State’s political landscape.
While the event celebrated the governor’s move to align the state with the ruling party at the national level, it was Engr. Tijjani Ahmad Galadima, the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) who unexpectedly dominated the spotlight, igniting widespread speculation about his 2027 gubernatorial ambitions.
Thousands of party faithful, political leaders, youth groups, and supporters from across Adamawa and beyond converged on the venue, transforming Ribadu Square into a sea of green and white APC colors.
The atmosphere was electric as attendees celebrated what many described as a strategic masterstroke to position Adamawa at the heart of national politics and unlock federal development opportunities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Amid the speeches and fanfare honoring Governor Fintiri’s leadership and the seamless integration of his political structure into the APC, Engr. Tijjani Ahmad Galadima emerged as the crowd’s unexpected focal point.
An unbroken hail and sustained chants of “Next Governor!” and “TG-2027! Sai kaye, Sai Kaye” erupted whenever the PTDF boss was spotted or referenced. Supporters waved placards and banners bearing slogans like “TG-2027: The People’s Choice” and “Power Shift to Central – Galadima Now!
Galadima, a technocrat with deep roots in federal service and strong connections in oil and gas, education, and international networks, has seen his name gain momentum in recent weeks.
Youth coalitions, including the Tijjani Galadima Youth Forum, have publicly urged him to declare for the 2027 governorship race, emphasizing a desired power shift to Adamawa Central Senatorial District (particularly Yola South).
Proponents praise his integrity, administrative track record at PTDF, and vision for infrastructure, human capital development, and attracting investments to the state.
The chants reportedly intensified during key moments of the program, with sections of the crowd erupting spontaneously as Galadima interacted with dignitaries and delegates.
Governor Fintiri, who has maintained cordial relations with Galadima, used the occasion to highlight unity and progress, reaffirming his commitment to the people of Adamawa.
While no official declaration has come from Galadima, today’s event has amplified calls for him to step into the race, as people from all corners of the state are highly expectant, believing him to be the right choice to take over from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
As Adamawa gears up for 2027, today’s reception at Ribadu Square not only celebrated a governor’s new political home but also signaled the rising tide of a potential successor.
