Adamawa APC guber primaries: I’ll be denied ticket even if I win, Madaki cries out, steps down for Haske
A fresh controversy has erupted within the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s governorship primaries tomorrow, as veteran politician Chief Joel Madaki dramatically stepped down from the race, alleging that the process had already been compromised in favour of preferred interests within the party.
Madaki, a respected political figure and long-time stakeholder in Adamawa politics, declared that even if he emerged victorious at the primaries, he was convinced that the party establishment would eventually deny him the governorship ticket.

The development has further deepened concerns among party loyalists over the credibility of the APC primary election process in Adamawa, especially following widespread allegations of manipulation and irregularities that trailed the recent House of Representatives and Senate primaries across the state.
Addressing supporters and party delegates, Madaki said the internal atmosphere within the APC no longer guarantees justice, transparency or fair competition.
According to him, events that unfolded during previous primary elections had destroyed confidence in the integrity of the process, forcing him to reconsider his participation in the governorship contest.
He lamented that the ideals of internal democracy appeared to have been eroded by powerful interests allegedly determined to impose candidates irrespective of the wishes of delegates and party members.
Madaki maintained that remaining in the race under such circumstances would amount to legitimising a flawed process whose outcome, according to him, may already have been predetermined.
The veteran politician subsequently announced his withdrawal from the contest and endorsed one of the youngest aspirants in the race, Abdurrahman Bashir Haske, describing him as a vibrant and energetic politician capable of redefining governance in Adamawa State.
Madaki called on all his loyalists, political associates and delegates to unite behind Haske during the primaries, insisting that the younger aspirant possesses the political strength, courage and vision needed to confront the entrenched interests allegedly dominating the party structure.
He said the decision to support Haske was informed not only by political strategy but also by the need to encourage a new generation of leadership within the APC.
Responding to the endorsement, Abdurrahman Bashir Haske expressed appreciation to Madaki for what he described as a selfless and courageous political sacrifice aimed at strengthening the party and promoting credible leadership.
Haske pledged to pursue purposeful governance anchored on fairness, inclusiveness and human capital development if elected governor of Adamawa State.
He assured party members and residents that his administration would focus heavily on youth empowerment, education, economic opportunities and people-oriented policies capable of transforming the state.
The governorship aspirant also promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him by Madaki and his supporters, stressing that he intends to justify the endorsement through transparent and developmental leadership.
