LG polls: Adamawa women extoll Fintiri for entrenching gender inclusion
A chorus of public approbation has greeted the decision of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to ensure the emergence of women as running mates in the forth coming local government election in the state.
The action of the governor came in the wake of avowals by women leaders in the state who promised to gun for top-notch political offices on the sidelines of a one day strategic stakeholder implementation meeting organized by Garga foundation with support from Supporting Electoral Accountability and Transparency (SEAT) program which took place in Yola.

Appreciating governor Fintiri for his sensitivity and fairness in the way he administer the state, the state women leader, Susan Zira extolls the governor for being a just and fair leader.
She said in the history of Nigerian politics Fintiri deserved a special place for leading the State with the fear of God and for being a torchbearer in many areas.
Zira added that Fintiri is amongst the few governors who deemed it fit to select a woman as his running mate and also gave another woman the position of the chief judge of the state adding that she is not surprised that he is repeating the feat by ensuring that women also emerged as vice chairmen across the 21 local governments of the state.
She expressed optimism in the capacity of women to deliver the goods adding that Fintiri will never regret his decision.
Zira called on the stakeholders to ensure that only women of substance who have the capacity, experience and the wherewithal to discharge the huge responsibilities are given the positions urging all stakeholders not to disappoint the governor by pursuing their personal interests.
Also thanking the governor, Aisha Abdurrahman, Zonal women leader thanked the governor for always carrying women in his strides adding that posterity will remember him as a man who led with distinction and justice.
She promised the governor of women support at all times so that he could consolidate his laudable policies and programs.
Also speaking, Zainab Sa’idu, PDP women leader in Yola North thanked the governor for heeding their pleas noting that not long ago, women in the state pleaded with the governor to give them a chance during the coming local government election and the governor has answered their calls.
She appealed to the stakeholders to ensure only women leaders who have been working for the party through thick and thin are given the opportunities in the spirit of fairness.
Saidu urged the stakeholders to emulate the governor by shunning acts of selfishness during the selection of the running mates so as to ensure only women with proven track record and service to the party made it to the position.
