
Adamawa Police arrest 715 criminals, prosecute 292 offenders in 2024
Adamawa State Police command has arrested no fewer than 715 hardened criminals for perpetrating violent crimes including, armed robbery, kidnapping, raping and culpable homicide amongst others.
The command successfully got convictions in 292 cases in the course of operations in 2024.
At a press briefing to mark the end of the year, Adamawa State commissioner of police Dankombo Morris noted that the successes followed a series of deliberate efforts to combat crimes and criminality in the state.
According to the CP, some of the strategies include, community policing, intense operational patrols, raiding of black spots/criminal hideouts, quick response to distress calls and visibility policing/stop and search operations.
Others are; rescue operations, creation of nipping points at strategic locations, synergy with sister agencies, vehicular/foot patrols, operation show of force/convoy patrols and synergy with local Vigilante groups.
He noted that at his inception as the CP in the state, he promised to nip insecurity in the bud noting that he has to a greater extent fulfilled that promise considering the drastic reduction of crime and criminality in the state.
“It is pertinent to remind the good people of the State that, when I came on board on the 14th February, 2024 as the 32nd Commissioner of Police, I made a pledge that I will fight crime and criminality to the barest minimum.
“To this end, today’s press conference is so special in the sense that, we want to showcase to the members of the public and the press, our achievement/successes recorded for the period under my watch. This will enable you to appraise if we have lived up to expectations or not,” he said.
