INEC receives application for registration of ADA, a new political party
The Nigerian National Coalition Group (NNCG) has formally submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking registration of a new political party to be known as the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
According to a letter dated June 19, 2025, and acknowledged by INEC on June 20, 2025, the group informed the electoral commission of its intent to sponsor the ADA in full compliance with constitutional and electoral provisions.

The letter, titled “Application for Registration as a Political Party”, was signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, the Protem National Chairman of the coalition and Abdullahi Musa Elayo, the protem national secretary of the coalition.
The group stated that the party’s official acronym would be ADA, with “Justice for All” as its guiding slogan.
In the application package, the group included a range of documents to support their request for registration. These include the proposed party’s constitution, a manifesto outlining its ideological position, a party flag, logo, and minutes of foundational meetings.
The logo, which prominently features a maize (corn) emblem, was described as symbolizing growth and national prosperity.
Also submitted were details of the party’s proposed national secretariat, which were printed on the association’s letterhead.
The submission was made in line with Section 40 and 222 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended), as well as Section 75 of the Electoral Act, 2022, which govern the registration of political parties in Nigeria.
The NNCG noted that the ADA would promote democratic values, social justice, and national development.
Chief Rickets expressed optimism that INEC would give due consideration to the request and offer necessary guidance on the next steps for completing the registration process.
“While we eagerly await further action from the commission in line with the provisions of the law, please accept the consideration of our highest respect,” the letter concluded.
If approved, ADA would join Nigeria’s growing list of political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, potentially offering a new platform for political engagement and national dialogue.
The development is seen by observers as part of a broader trend of political reconfiguration in the country, as emerging groups seek to challenge the status quo and deepen Nigeria’s democratic space.
