Rural Health Centre Commission In Shasau, Hong LGA
Relief has come to Shashau community in Hong local government area of Adamawa State who lived for decades without health facility but the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Delu Bulus Yakubu has built a health centre and was commissioned.
Before the building of the health centre, the community with a population of 500 households who live for more than 200 years had to travel to Garaha, Hong or Garkida covering more than 6 klms to access the nearest health facility.

This development had put many those seeking medical attention in jeopardy particularly pregnant women who sometimes encounter miscarriage due to poor nature of the road linking the Shashau village with the main road.
Commissioning the edifice, the paramount ruler of Huba Chiefdom in Hong loca government area, Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako who was elated said the project as the community has a long history and it align with his three point agenda, unity, peace and security as well as development.
“Shasau has a long history and the time has come that the status of Shasau be restored, and what is happening is the beginning of the restoration of Shasau.
“There is no evident of development that will have a facility like this that will take of health of the people, because health is wealth, when Shasau are taking care of through our health, we can do a lot of more things,” he said.
The royal father while congratulating Mrs Delu for achieving the feat throughher love and compassion, urged the people of Shasau to patronize and maintain the health facility and patronize it since the project is in line with his aspiration for Huba Chiefdom.
He announced the donation of N500, 000 to facilitate smooth running of the health centre.
In his remark, the Executve chairman, Adamawa State Primary Health care Development Agency, Doctor Sulieman Saidu Bashir pledged to provide the facility with personal, equipment, wheel chairs, drugs and mama kits.
“The facility was built with the provision of ambulance for referral is commendable which will go a long way in improving access to healthcare and commitment made by general stakeholders, it will improve the health and wellbeing of the people in the area,” he said.
On his part, the Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley pledged to drill a borehole at the premises of the health facility, noted that the project is clear demonstration of federal government commitment to improving the welfare and wellbeing of the people particularly those in rural and underserve communities.
“Government at all levels are working round the clock to ensure rural dwellers have access to basic medical services.
“The facility present more than infrastructure, it symbolize care. Compassion and combatting preventable diseases and child mortality as well as strengthen our health system at grassroots,” he said.
Wesley assured that legislators would support policies and legislative framework that would enhance healthcare delivery across the state and remain committed in partnering with federal agencies to ensure such projects are sustain and replicate in other communities.
Also speaking, the member representing Gombi/Hong federal constituency Rt.Hon. James Barka pledged to provide drugs within three months to the health care due to its importance of health to people.
On her part, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Delu Bulus Yakubu said the facility is part of national initiative develop by her office and the mandate of president Ahmed Bola Tinubu to support rural health care services.
In her remarks, founder of Being Human Foundation for the less privileged Engr. Dr. Amb. Khadiza Kuburat Ibrahim lauded the initiator of the project and promises to partner with the SSA to the president to improve the wellbeing of the people.
Earlier, the Chairman Hong local government, Hon. Usman Inuwa Wa’aganda announced the donation of N500, 000 for the purchase of drugs to the health facility.
Some residents of the community expressed satisfaction with project, considering its importance to the wellbeing of the people.
The health facility will cater for all medical needs of the community and other surrounding communities and a modern Motorcyle ambulance was provided that would take place referral patients to secondary health facility.
