You’re an epitome of integrity, a rare patriot, Marwa celebrates Boss Mustapha at 70

By Mohammed Ismail

Chairman of the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd), has congratulated former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Barrister Boss Mustapha, CFR, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a man of integrity, wisdom and outstanding commitment to national service.

Marwa, in a birthday message issued and signed by Ahmed Sajoh, the spokesman of the council on behalf of members of the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council, said Mustapha’s seven decades of life had been defined by service to humanity and significant contributions to Adamawa State and Nigeria.

He described the former SGF as an “icon” whose public service career had left an enduring mark on the country, particularly through his role in national governance.

According to Marwa, Mustapha’s journey from the legal profession to the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation demonstrated his ability to remain calm and focused while navigating complex national challenges.

He said the former SGF had distinguished himself as a bridge-builder during periods of division and as a voice of reason during times of national turbulence.

“From your foundational years as a legal luminary to your service as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, you have navigated the complexities of governance with a calm demeanour and a steady hand,” Marwa said.

The retired general also described Mustapha as a pillar of strength and a repository of institutional knowledge within the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council, saying his counsel remained highly valued by members.

Marwa said the significance of Mustapha’s 70th birthday extended beyond his age, noting that the former SGF had influenced the lives of younger people through mentorship, while also offering guidance to colleagues and demonstrating respect for elders.

He said Mustapha had carried the responsibilities associated with his positions, including that of SGF and recipient of the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), with humility.

According to him, Mustapha’s conduct demonstrated that leadership was fundamentally about sacrifice and service rather than the privileges attached to public office.

“Turning 70 is not merely about the years lived; it is about the lives touched. You have mentored the young, guided your peers, and served your elders with humility,” he said.

Marwa prayed for continued good health, peace of mind and many more years of service for the former SGF, urging him to take pride in the legacy he had built over the years.

He said the occasion provided an opportunity for the people of Adamawa and Nigerians at large to acknowledge and celebrate Mustapha’s contributions to the country.

The chairman said the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council joined Mustapha’s family, friends and associates in celebrating his milestone birthday and recognising his years of distinguished public service.

He described Mustapha as not only a fellow septuagenarian but also a brother and compatriot whose contributions to public life deserved recognition.
