Adamawa Assembly: Njidda denies dual party membership, says he quit APC in August

• Vows to shock opponents under APM

By Mohammed Ismail

The member representing Nassarawo/Binyeri Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Babangida Mohammed Njidda, has dismissed reports alleging that he failed to resign from the All Progressives Congress (APC) before joining the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

Njidda, who is seeking re-election to the Assembly on the platform of the APM in the 2027 general elections, described the allegations of dual party membership as false and politically motivated, accusing his detractors of attempting to undermine his political standing.

The lawmaker maintained that he formally resigned from the APC on August 15, 2026, insisting that his defection to the APM was in accordance with due process.

He explained that he submitted his resignation letter alongside his APC membership card to the chairman of Nassarawo Jereng Ward, Malam Abdullahi Ahijo, adding that he also notified the APC local government chairman of his decision by telephone.

“Based on the foregoing, there is no way I could have belonged to two political parties at the same time,” Njidda said.

He described the reports as a fresh attempt by political opponents to discredit him ahead of the 2027 elections, alleging that those behind the claims had repeatedly targeted him politically without success.

The lawmaker expressed confidence in his chances of securing re-election, attributing his political strength to his performance in the Assembly and the support he enjoys among his constituents.

“My political enemies want to unnecessarily tarnish my image without any justification. I remain determined to win a second term, and no amount of blackmail or propaganda will distract me,” he said.

Njidda further insisted that the allegations would not diminish his electoral prospects, declaring that his supporters remained committed to the APM and its candidates in Adamawa State.

“My people are with me and are ready to vote for me under the APM platform. Those who have continued their political attacks against me over the years will be shocked again in 2027. It is victory all the way,” he declared.

He also maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) list, which recognises him as the APM candidate for Nassarawo/Binyeri Constituency, was correct, expressing confidence that his candidacy would withstand any challenge.

The lawmaker urged his supporters and residents of Nassarawo/Binyeri to disregard misleading reports and remain focused on securing victory for the APM in the forthcoming elections.
