Rainstorm destroys building, equipments of Radio Nigeria Fombina FM Yola

Heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong winds have on Monday night wrecked havoc on Radio Nigeria Fombina FM Yola blowing off parts of the roof of the media facility.

Reports indicated that four departments including Programmes, Administration, Finance, Engineering and parts of the production and live studios were partly damaged by the storm.

Information pieced together by our reporter indicated that since its inception in 2003, the station was never hit hard by a natural disaster like the current one which occurred.

The General Manager of the Station, Alhaji Dahiru Garba Mohammed said the management is working round the clock to ensure that the station continue broadcasting despite the natural occurrence.

He however called on Government, stakeholders and friends of the media to come to the aid of Fombina FM.

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Adamawa State Chapter, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan who was among the first callers to sympathize with the Management described the incident as monumental setback to broadcast industry in the state.

One of the operating staff of the station from News department, Fidelis Jockthan who conducted Journalists round the affected departments said, hardcopies of valuable materials and computers were affected by the rainstorm.

Some of the staff of the organization whose offices were afflicted by the incident were seen working under trees while engineers were seen working round the clock to restore transmission.
