A close associate of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Sen. Abu Ibrahim has carpeted former SGF Babachir David Lawal for publicly denouncing the Muslim-muslim ticket adopted by the ruling party noting that Babachir was part of the process that gave birth to the emergence of Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate.
The former SGF has lambasted Tinubu for adopting the Muslim-muslim ticket saying that it was a gross error of judgement and satanic via a press statement.
But in a chat with BBC Hausa, Ibrahim said Babachir was a member of the committee which superintended the selection of the vice president.
“Babachir was part of the process that selected the north east as the zone that will produce the vice president,” he said.
Sen. Ibrahim also disclosed that the issue of religion was extensively discussed during the meeting adding that it was decided that they should settle on a person that will boost the party’s electoral fortunes.
“I’m not trying to fault Babachir for speaking on the issue but he should accept that he was part of the process,” Ibrahim said.
He said since he was part of the process, Babachir ought to have sensitized the christian community about the considerations that led to the emergence of Kashim instead of inflaming sectarian passion.
“Babachir is in a position to quell this raging fire by exhaustively explaining the criteria used for the selection because he is among the christian leaders that participated in the process leading to the selection of the APC presidential running mate.
“We will come out victorious in this election because Nigerians love Tinubu because of the role he played in the emergence of president Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
