Adamawa State Police command has arrested a 40-year-old resident of Kpasham village of Demsa local government of Adamawa State, Barnabas Abduneza over the alleged murder of a minor.
The deceased, name withheld and her mother were allegedly attacked by the assailant on September 29, 2022 in Kadamti village leading to the death of the minor and grievous bodily harm to the mother, a statement by SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the spokesman of the command disclosed.
“Following the attack of a woman and her child in Kadamti village of Numan local government area on the 29/9/2022 which resulted to the death of the baby and severe injury on the Mother, the Command operatives attached to Numan Division, Men of operation Farauta and good Samaritans swung into action and apprehend one in connection with the offence.
“The suspect, Barnabas Abduneza 40 years, a resident of Kpasham village, Demsa local government area was arrested following credible and reliable information.
“Investigation so far, recovers face mask with some dangerous weapons as described by the victim of the attack.
“Consequently, the commissioner of police CP SK Akande having commended the divisional police officer Numan, men of operation Farauta and good people of Numan for preventing such people of questionable character from escaping arrest.
” He equally directed Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of CID to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
“The police boss further assures the government and good people of Adamawa state of the command’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate of safe guarding lives and property of the citizens,” Nguroje said.
