Soyinka cited the EndSARS protest as an example of a movement driven by truth which he said was in sharp contrast with the Obidient Movement and actions.

Soyinka commended the EndSARS protest as one of the most successful movements in Nigeria’s history. He expressed his support for the protest and recalled addressing some of the protesters before departing from Lagos to Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

The acclaimed writer drew parallels between the actions of the Obidient Movement and former President Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged incitement of violence against innocent members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Soyinka suggested that Buhari’s claims of election fraud led to the tragic loss of lives. He argued that even before the election, some individuals had conspired to destabilize the country and establish an interim government.

Soyinka further criticized those who supported this cause, asserting that they were unwittingly playing into the hands of external forces and acting foolishly.
