A 35-year-old rapist, Wilson Sunday is currently cooling his heels at the Adamawa State Police command over alleged rape of five minors.

According to a statement by the public relations officer of the state command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the survivors aged between 8 – 14 years all reside in Bachure, a suburb of Yola North local government of the state.

Nguroje noted that the suspect, a resident of Damilu, in Yola North local government was apprehended on 4th June, 2023.
The statement noted that the suspect usually lure the survivors into an uncompleted building away from the probing eyes of the general public.

The police image maker added that the suspect had carnal knowledge of all the survivors at different times while on their way to or from school.
“Adamawa State Police Command, on 4/06/2023 apprehended a 35 years old habitual Rapist for raping Five (5) Minors between 8 -14 age bracket in Bachure, Yola North Local Government Area.

“The suspect, Wilson Sunday a resident of of Damilu in Yola North allegedly committed the crime from January 2023 and Subsequently Continued
“He disguised himself and lured the victims into an uncompleted buildings away from the eyes of the public and took advantage of them while they were on their way going or returning from school and had unlawful carnal knowledge of them.
“The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare by the parents of the victims having observed the unrepentant attitude of the suspect.
“Preliminary investigation so far reveals that the suspect is a father of two and now leaving alone after he separated with his wife. Investigation further reveals that the accused was once convicted for similar offence.
“The Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola expressed worry over the unfortunate incident and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
“Similarly, another 22 year-old Raphael Peter, a resident of Bulabuli, Michika Local Government was arrested by the Command Operatives attached to Divisional Police Headquarters, Mubi North for raping an 18-year-old student.
“The Police Boss equally advised members of the public particularly parents to be very watchful of their kids against criminal minded elements who are roaming about seeking whom to take advantage of and report person(s) of suspicious Character to the Police.
“He equally called on the General public especially Parents to key into the Command’s Fight against all forms of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and promised to prosecute perpetrators in accordance with the extant laws,” the statement added.
