Over 8,500 receive free health services as Sen Yaroe conducts 12th medical outreach

No fewer than 8,500 patients have been treated as Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe conducted 12th Medical Outreach in Ganye Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State.

The free medical outreach attracted hundreds of patients within and outside Ganye, Toungo and Jada LGAs where they got healthcare services on various ailments and diseases.

Speaking shortly after inspecting the health services being rendered at the closing ceremony of the four-day outreach at General Hospital Ganye on Thursday, Gangwari Ganye, HRH Alh. Umaru Adamu Sanda, hailed Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe for his commitment and determination to improving the wellbeing of his constituents, describing the free medical outreach being rendered by the Senator as the most basic need of human.

The Royal Father said that Senator Binos is a God-sent to the people of Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, noting that he was highly impressed with the way and manner with which the Senator touches the livelihoods of his constituents; especially in areas of employment and healthcare service delivery.

He stated, “I have gone round and seen things, and I can tell you that I am highly impressed with what I have seen. Sick people in their hundreds have been given free medical services, including surgeries. I call on other politicians to emulate Senator Binos in initiating programmes that will impact positively in the lives of people at the grassroots”.

While calling on the people of his domain to support government to enable it provide them with the needed dividends of democracy, the traditional leader prayed for the successful conclusion of Binos 12th Free Medical Outreach.

The Royal Father urged Senator Binos not to relent in his commitment and determination to meeting the plights of the masses, where he described health as wealth.

Disclosing the statistics, the Lead Medical Consultant, Dr Wycliffe Dah, said that the medical team was able to treat no fewer than 8,500 patients across the four days, hence exceeding the target of 8,000 to be treated.

Represented by Dr. Kudan Kamshak Deyin,an Ophthalmologist and former Commissioner for Health in Plateau State, Dah said that about 7000 medical and reading glasses had been issued out to beneficiaries, over 260 cataract surgeries had been carried out, over 286 dental cases had been treated, 310 general surgeries carried out, over 178 family planning addressed and over 4,210 basic test conducted in laboratory among others.

In his words, “Let me give an example. Averagely in this part of the world, if you do a cataract surgery, it will cost N40,000 to N50,000; that is the cheapest you can get anywhere. It can go as higher as N150,000 depending on which part of the country you are residing. Like Jos where I come from, we charge averagely N50,000.

“And if you look at the people here that came to access these services, I can bet you in a whole year, they would not raise this money to do this surgery. That is why if opportunities like this comes, you can see high turnout of patients”.

In his remarks, Executive Chairman of Ganye Local Government Council (LGC), Hon. Jibrin Ali, who could not hide his joy, commended Senator Binos Yaroe for taking it upon himself to improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of his people.

In his words, “I cannot thank Senator Binos enough for this huge project of rendering free medical services to sick people in this part of the state. This is what real good representation means”.

A cross section of beneficiaries, who spoke to Journalists shortly after they received free treatment, thanked Senator Binos and prayed God Almighty to grant him the desires of his heart.
