In its move to ensure the entrenchment of good governance and promotion of human rights through enhanced collaboration between CSOs and the media, the human angle foundation has organized a one day parley between media practitioners and civil society organizations in Adamawa State.

In their various submissions, heads of media and CSOs present identify lack of trust, dearth of accountability and transparency issues as the major clogs in the wheel of progress between the two sides and promised to address the issues for the benefits of Adamawa people.

In her remark, the head of the media angle foundation, Oluwatosin Alagbe said the major aim of convening the meeting was to strengthen collaborations between CSOs and media in championing human rights and good governance in Adamawa State.
She noted that it is important that CSOs and media work together because the media’s role is to tell the story while the CSOs work is to embark on advocacies around issues raised by the media.
“So there is the need for the two to work together so that we can advance the rights of citizens in Adamawa so that media tell the stories and the CSOs build upon it.
“CSOs and media need to build trust so that they can work together. It is also important that they carry each other along. It is pointless if the media do the story and no advocacy around it. It is also pointless if CSOs advocate for change and there is no media to amplify their advocacies. Both need to work together to achieve the result,” she said.
She urged the CSOs to capitalize on the existing structure of good governance group which an existing coalition between the media and CSOs to further advance the course of humanity.
Alagbe expressed optimism that with the commitment of the two sides to work together, justice, equity and equality will be enhanced in the state.
The Human angle foundation is a non governmental body which seeks to champion the rights of individuals by telling human angle stories, Fact-cheking and ensuring social inclusion particularly in conflict areas.
