Sen Yaroe pledges more empowerment for youth as 5-day solar energy training ends

The senator representing Adamawa South senatorial zone, Sen. Binos Dauda Yaroe has pledged to commit more time, resources and energy towards ensuring sustainable livelihood for youths of his constituency.

The senator made the pledge at the closing ceremony of a five-day intensive vocational training on solar energy and presentation of tools for 50 youths drawn from the nine local governments of his constituency organized by Sen. Binos D. Yaroe foundation.

Sen Yaroe noted that Adamawa south senatorial district is blessed with high solar radiation which is a natural source of renewable energy. He noted that the compelling need to shift from fossil fuel to renewable energy entails his passion and zeal to organize the training for the youth noting that such training will equip the youth with a sustainable life incomes.

He urged the participants to use the knowledge acquired to empower themselves and their communities promising to bankroll the second and third phases of the training to ensure that the area has well grounded solar energy technicians.

The senator noted that with the training, he has no reason to call technicians from Abuja to repair his solar panels and other equipment whenever they are faulty as ready made technicians are already on ground.

Yaroe expressed happiness with the commitment, passion and zeal displayed by the beneficiaries adding that from day one of the training he has been keenly following what is transpiring during the training urging them to keep the flag flying.

He also thanked the resource persons and technicians led by Chief Daddi Bamaiyi for their commitments, dedication and resourcefulness which led to the overall success of the training.

While thanking the senator, the team lead of experts from the energy commission of Nigeria, Chief Daddi Bamaiyi, thanked the senator for his passion and commitment towards the welfare of the people.

He noted that the training will provide an enduring lifetime benefit for the beneficiaries especially as the world move to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy.

Bamaiyi told the senator that the exercise was worthwhile as the beneficiaries have shown passion, dedication and commitment during the five day training adding that no fewer than 15 participants including graduates of electrical engineering passed the final test with distinction.

He also noted that all the other beneficiaries passed the test with flying colours. He added that beneficiaries can now repair solar street lights, couple solar panels, connect solar panels to boreholes and a range of other services for the benefit of the communities.

Thanking the senator for carrying the youths along, representatives of the beneficiaries, Isa Abdurrahaman Shelleng and Richard Raymond said they were overwhelmed by the gesture of the senator who taught them how to catch fish instead of giving them fish.

They said with the training, the senator has equipped them with skills that will last a lifetime promising to use the new skills to help themselves, families and communities. They also thanked the senator for providing them with working tools promising to make judicial use of them.

Also speaking, the commissioners of information and strategy, Neido Geoffrey Kofulto and women affairs, Wunfe Anthony, thanked the senator for coming to the rescue of youths by providing them with such important skills. They noted that action will drastically reduce crime and youth restiveness in the area urging the senator to maintain the tempo.

They also urged the youths not to sell the tools provided to them and work diligently to fulfill the senator’s dream of becoming useful members of the society.

A number of PDP stalwarts, former local government chairmen, DG campaign office of senator Yaroe, representative of Hamma Bachama and technocrats all showered encomiums on the senator for the humanitarian gesture noting that it will go a long way in adding value to families and communities.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of a rickshaw to the only person with disability to aide his movements.
